Head and neck cancer develops in the mouth, throat, nose, sinuses or salivary glands — mostly squamous cell cancers linked to tobacco, alcohol, HPV and Epstein-Barr virus. It causes neck lumps, non-healing sores, a persistent sore throat and voice changes, is confirmed by biopsy and imaging, and treated with surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy.
