It is the regional tertiary hub for northern Gyeongbuk, holding government designations as a Regional Emergency Medical Center, Regional Trauma Center, and Regional Cardio-Cerebrovascular Disease Center, and runs a large-volume comprehensive health-screening center (건강증진센터). Not to be confused with the separate Andong Sungso Hospital (안동성소병원).
