Wonkwang University Hospital is the university hospital of Wonkwang University in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea. It traces to 1980, when Wonkwang University's newly founded College of Medicine took over the former Sycamore Iri General Hospital as its 13-department, 150-bed teaching hospital; it moved to its current Muwang-ro site in Iksan (then Iri-si) in July 1984. It is designated a 상급종합병원 (tertiary/senior general hospital) and operates as the main quintary emergency-care hub for the Jeonbuk region, combining a regional trauma center, regional emergency medical center, regional cardio-cerebrovascular center, and an emergency medical helicopter service alongside general acute care, a cancer center, and a comprehensive health-screening center. Note: Wonkwang University also operates a separate Sanbon Hospital campus in Gunpo, Gyeonggi-do — this profile covers only the Iksan main hospital.
